Summer BBQ & Seminar raises over $1,300 for Global Lyme Alliance; 6 stripes and 6 new belts awarded
The 3rd-Annual Miller Brothers MMA & Fitness Charity BJJ Seminar and BBQ was a resounding success, as students and coaches from multiple gyms in the area came together and raised more than $1,300 for the Global Lyme Alliance. The seminar saw instruction from three of Miller Brothers MMA & Fitness’ five BJJ Black Belts, including Preston Gagg who earned his promotion at the ceremony which followed the seminar. We were also blessed to receive coaching from Renzo Gracie Woodland Park’s Jamie Cruz and Joseph Campisi, as well as Birdman Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu’s Jon “Birdman” Finn. We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to our guest instructors as well as all of the students and friends who came out and donated during both the seminar and the BBQ.
The day also saw a dozen of our hard-working Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students earn promotions. Six students earned new stripes: Meliza Guzman, White Belt First Stripe; Kevin Johnson, White Belt First Stripe; Justin Zinn, White Belt First Stripe; Francis DeNapoli, White Belt Second Stripe; Tyler Bayer, Blue Belt Third Stripe; Fred Hooey, Purple Belt Fourth Stripe. We also welcomed four students – Ray Carroll, Bill Cowan, Sorkristal Alequin and Anthony Guzman – to the Blue Belt ranks, as well as new Purple Belt Nick Bayconich. Last but certainly not least, was Preston’s promotion to Black Belt, the culmination of 15 years of training. Everyone at Miller Brothers MMA & Fitness extends our hearty congratulations to Preston for this honor. Anyone who has ever trained with him knows how well deserved it is!
