Andover’s Brian Leahy takes BJJ Silver Medal at 2018 Good Fight New York Open
Taking part in your first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament can be intimidating but Brian Leahy showed no nerves as he took part in the 2018 Good Fight New York Open and came home with a silver medal. The Andover resident won his opening bout with a triangle choke during the fourth overtime round. With submission-only bouts often running significantly longer than training rounds or matches in points-based tournaments, it often requires a great deal of determination to get through them victoriously and Brian showed both determination and skill to escape his opponent’s submission, then convert on the opportunity to win with a triangle of his own.
